Year 2 Tag Rugby and Football fixture VS Wetherby School

On Tuesday 12th February Wetherby Kensington played Wetherby School in four tag rugby matches and two football matches.

The Pumas and Azzuri both played in very close football matches against their opponents. The Azzuri were drawing 0 – 0 at half time and determined to not let their opponent score, but the second half saw the boys leak 3 goals resulting in a 3 – 0 loss. The Pumas on the other hand managed to draw their match 2 – 2, a fantastic result for all included in that squad. The goals were scored by our silky Italian striker Alessandro and our French turned British bulldog Lucas.

The Dragons, All Blacks, Springboks and Wallabies were all involved in tag rugby matches, trying to prove that their hard work in games and gym had paid off.

The Wallabies narrowly lost their match 6 tries to 5. The super enthusiastic Miss Tarrant tried her best to rally the boys to grab a draw but her extravagant coaching style didn’t pay off. Well done to Sasha and Ari who both scored two tries and Ben for scoring one.

The Springboks under Mr Owen’s command managed to draw, with the score finishing 6 tries each. A massive special mention to Andrey who scored all 6 tries and was unstoppable on the ball!

The All blacks lost 8 tries to 4. After a slow start they began to dominate the game and put their opposition under a lot of pressure. Phillip scored 2 tries, Sebastian scored 1 and Arthur G scored 1. A very good effort against a tough side!

The Dragons had an excellent start to their match, taking the lead at half time- 4 tries to 3. The second half was a close affair with both teams scoring plenty of tries. However the final score is in dispute, so we decided the game was a draw. From what we do know Zach A scored 3 tries, Leonardo scored 3, Max scored a brilliant solo try and Carter scored the final try. I think Wetherby School need a refereeing and score- keeping training evening!
